DAY 1
Aucnee. An insignificant small town, 10 days north of the
thriving city of Luskan. The chances are that anyone who stops here either has
family in the town or is lost - most likely lost.
The Wyvern Spur Inn. A popular drinking hole in Aucnee
run by an aging halfling, known as Jacky, who is often to be found regaling his
customers with wild tales of his adventuring days. Which is exactly what he was
doing with a group of relatively young (according to their species) adventurers
who had mostly grown up in the town. All except Auum, of course. No one knows
where he grew up, or even if he did in fact grow up at all or just sprang into
being as a fully grown genassi and found himself "lost" in Aucnee.
Auum's friends were listening intently to Jacky's tale and he smiled as he
returned his attention to the diminutive figure in front of him. Bear, the
shaman, looked thoughtfully into his beer and scratched his beard while Veeblok
the dwarf picked at his own beard to see if he'd left any of his lunch in
there. Toox and Balthazar glanced at each other, as if both agreeing that life
was good and everything was as it should be.
Jacky's subject tonight was actually more of the present
day, he was sharing gossip regarding the recent scandal where the local Lord,
Feringale, had taken a commoner for his wife a half year ago. The lucky bride
was a well liked local girl named Meralda Ganderlay who everyone in town
thought would end up with local boy Jaka Sculi. However, and Jacky leaned
forward conspiratorially at this point, the lad killed himself on the Lord's
wedding day out of grief for losing the love of his life to Lord Feringale.
Whilst the Lady was being transported to Lord Feringale's castle her coach
party was attacked by a vicious barbarian horde. Well, a barbarian and his
friend, at the very least. Lord Feringale captured the barbarian but a visiting
nobleman named Lord Branderburg helped the barbarian to escape custody. The
barbarian had claimed that the Lady Meralda's child was his and stolen it away!
A bizarre twist to events, to be sure.
Jacky shook his head, as if to say, "what is the
world coming too???" and wandered off to order one his serving girls to go
and clean something.
As the band of young adventurers chatted over these recent
events, Lady Meralda's coach driver, Liam Woodgate, enters the inn and
approaches them. Being of an age with Meralda, having grown up together, she
has asked that they meet with her as she wants to talk. She tells them that her
baby is actually Jaka Sculi's and she doesn't know why the barbarian had claimed
that it was his! She wants her friends to find out why the barbarian claimed it
and, above all, make sure the child is safe.
Back in the bar, the adventurers are discussing this turn
of events and ask Jacky, the all-knowing, if he knew who the barbarian was. He
says it may have been Wulfgar, but isn't entirely sure as he was well known
throughout the Realms for his integrity and honour. He describes Wulfgar as
being extremely tall, well muscled with blue eyes. His cohort, Lord
Branderburg, allegedly comes from Luskan.
Armed with this knowledge, they decide to leave the inn
to rest for the night , but are then approached by Temigart, Steward to Lord
Feringales, who says that his Lord wishes for them to visit. Feringale is well
regarded locally, so they are not too worried at this news, but also slightly
suspicious that he should want to see them on the same evening that Lady Meralda had met with them in secret...
Inside the castle walls they meet Liam Woodgate again,
who looks puzzled at their presence but otherwise says nothing. Feringale wants
the adventurers to go on a quest to find Wulfgar and bring him back - or
preferably just bring his head back. "Oh, just one other thing," says
Feringale, "I want the child dead. I can't risk having a bastard inherit
my lands."
The party are aghast at this barbaric request, but they
negotiate a price of 300gp for Wulfgar head and an extra 50gp for info on
Branderburg's background. They take 80gp up front and Fernigale agrees to give
them the further 270gp on completion of the tasks.
Back at the Wyvern's Spur, Toox quizzes Jacky some more
about this so-called Lord Branderburg. Jacky says that they should really be
looking for someone simply called "The Rogue" whose real name is
actually Morik and he used to frequent "The Cutlass Inn" in Luskan.
Jacky really doesn't believe that the barbarian could be Wulfgar, the same
Wulfgar who was a member of the "Friends of The Hall" band - along
with Drizz't Do'urden, Cati-Bri, Bruenor Battlehammer, Regis the halfling. In
fact, it was rumoured that Wulfgar was actually dead.
Back in the castle, Bear quizzes Molly the maid about
Branderburg - she describes him as having green eyes and black hair with a
habit of running his had through his hair. She doesn't have much else to add,
unfortunately.
The party investigate the location of the barbarian's
ambush on Meralda. Lord Feringale had hired a mage to locate the attackers but
only found the barbarian.
DAY 2 - DAY 5
The following day, they start their journey to the big
city of Luskan, which is mostly uneventful... Until the fourth day of the
journey when they are ambushed by a band of kobolds, whom they quickly dispatch
and even tidy up afterwards. Well, you don't want messy dead kobold's and their
encampment littering the landscape, do you?

DAY 6 - DAY 11
They arrive at Luskan witout any further ado and claim
admittance to the city by saying they want to claim the bounty for kobold ears
and also that they have business at "The Cutlass". The captain of the
gate guard tells them to look for Josie Puddles at "The Cutlass"
[80sp for the kobold ears]
At "The Cutlass", Bear talks to Aram Garpek,
the inn keeper and asks after Morik. There is another suspicious looking
character in the bar who looks uncomfortable at the mention of this name. Bear
tells Aram that they want to talk to Morik about Lord Branderburg. Aram goes
off to talk to someone who then leaves the bar.
Bear finds Josie Puddles in the bar and talks to him
about the barbarian Wulfgar. Josie says that he was put on the Prisoners
Carnival for trying to assassinate Captain Deudermont of the Sea Sprite, a famous
pirate hunter. However, for some unknown reason, Deudermont pardoned Wulfgar.
This was 9 months ago.
The party discover that the barmaid, Deli, is looking
after a baby and claims that it Wulfgar is the father. The baby is 2 month's
old. After much questioning they discover that Deli is actually looking after
the baby that was stolen. Wulfgar had turned up in her room one night and left
the child with her whilst revealing that there was a price on his head from
Lord Armstrong.
Morik arrives in the bar and reveals more of the true
story. he had known Wulfgar as the bouncer employed at this very inn. He says
that the soft-headed barbarian had simply heard that there as a child in danger
in Aucnee and decied there and then that he would go and rescue it before it
could come to any harm, and the rest is known. However, Wulfgar is troubled -
he is looking for his lost warhammer which had been sold to the sea witch - the
lady captain of "The Bloody Keel". Wulfgar has been trying to contact
Captain Deudermont, who sails out of Waterdeep, so that could be a way of
finding him.
Arumn arranges passage for the band of adventurers to
take them to Waterdeep for the reasonable sum of 15gp each (75gp total). They
sell their loot acquired from the kobolds and raise 38gp 2sp.
